Specialism: Audio visual and UC

Key vendors: Absen, DJI, Epson, Iiyama, LG, Neat, NEC, Promethean, Samsung, and SMART

UK revenue: £476.4m (-0.4%)

Total headcount: 1,939

The first half of 2025 was “challenging for our industry”, Midwich CEO Stephen Fenby acknowledged as he unveiled interim results showing group revenues declining 4% to £620m.

The AV giant generated £476.4m of its £1.32bn group revenues last year from its home UK market (roughly flat year on year).

Despite its towering stature, the Diss-based, LSE-listed outfit claims to still have a share of less than 4% of its total addressable global pro-AV market.

Its Commercial Director Ross Floyd picked out drone specialist DJI as its hottest new vendor signing (see Q&A below).

“How optimistic am I? Right now, I’d say a 7”

Quickfire Q&A with UK&I Commercial Director Ross Floyd

What’s your top priority over the next 12 months?

To never lose the personal touch. As the market grows and evolves, it’s more important than ever that we continue to support our vendors and customers closely, providing expert guidance, reliable service, and a partner they can trust. For us, relationships and personal service remain at the heart of everything we do.

What’s the most under-rated facet of your business?

Our Plus and Technical Support teams. They support our partners when they need it the most while helping them deliver more to their end clients and unlock new revenue opportunities, often behind the scenes.

Name a vendor or technology area that’s been a hit for you in 2025

Onboarding DJI has opened the door to new markets, verticals, and customers, while also introducing exciting technology that’s really energised and inspired our teams. It’s been a great example of how innovation can reinvigorate both our people and our partnerships.

Are you expecting to grow in this calendar year?

While the market has been challenging, we remain confident that our focus on customer service, strong vendor partnerships, and investment in automation and technology will enable us to further strengthen our market-leading position.

3 of the 4 largest companies in this report have changed ownership in the last 12 months (or are about to). What does that say about the market?

It shows how active and attractive the IT market is. Ownership changes signal confidence and rapid evolution, and for Midwich, it reinforces the importance of strong partnerships, specialist expertise, and consistent support while opening new growth opportunities.

On a scale of 1-10, how optimistic are you about the IT distribution market right now?

Right now, I’d say a 7, but with AI, the Experience Economy, and new technology advancements, it’s quickly feeling more positive. These trends are driving fresh demand, and we’re helping partners deliver the right solutions as end users modernise and upgrade.
