Specialism: Memory and data storage

Key vendors:  Micron, Kingston, Innodisk, Aetina, Real Sense, Corsair, ATP Electronics, Intelligent Memory, Apricorn, Exascend

Revenue: £29.1m (+33%)

Headcount: 32

Active reseller/MSP base: 400+

This memory specialist saw revenues rebound by a third to £29.1m in its year to 31 March 2024 amid a stabilisation in the trading environment.

Strong sales of enterprise SSD and server DRAM contributed to the uptick.

Citing its efforts to decarbonise its business, Kent-based Micron and Kingston partner Simms is currently evaluating applying for B Corp status.

“More people should speak with us about our market intelligence”

Kevin Howse, Simms

Quickfire Q&A with Chief Commercial Officer Kevin Howse

What’s your top priority over the next 12 months?

AI readiness and scalable growth

What’s the most under-rated facet of your business?

Our market intelligence and consultative support add real value to customers; it’s something more should speak with us about.

Name a vendor or technology area that’s been a hit for you in 2025

Server SSDs and RAM.

Are you expecting to grow in this calendar year?
Yes – 25%+

What distribution news story most grabbed your attention in 2025?

Not one story in particular, but the volume of impactful cyber-attacks, combined with widespread tech layoffs attributed to AI, has been striking.

3 of the 4 largest companies in this report have changed ownership in the last 12 months (or are about to). What does that say about the market?

It highlights a consolidating market where scale matters, but stability and specialist expertise are becoming true differentiators.

How do you feel that one company featured in this report took out a full-page New York Times ad in March blasting the term ‘distributor’?

I don’t agree with the approach, but it reflects frustration with outdated perceptions of distributors and a desire to redefine the industry’s real value.

On a scale of 1-10, how optimistic are you about the IT distribution market right now?
