There is a “massive gap” in the market for a mid-sized AV distributor, former Midwich director Lee Baker told IT Channel Oxygen as he joined onemedia in March via an MBO.
Baker and fellow Midwich alumnus Iain Campbell (pictured, top) became shareholders in onemedia alongside existing executives Chris Wood, John Jeffreys and Will Hetherington (with Baker named Commercial Director and Campbell MD).
The Oxfordshire-based outfit, which claims to have doubled headcount in 2024, sees its technical knowledge as a key differentiator (see below).

What is onemedia’s sweet spot?
onemedia is a technical, value-add, distributor. Our technical knowledge, and the service levels that we offer our reseller partners, is our biggest differentiator.
Which product, service or vendor has stood out for you in 2024?
The services and support that we offer on the technical products in our portfolio have significantly increased this year, helping our reseller partners deliver successful projects and retain margin.
If you could change one thing about your business at the stroke of a wand, what would it be?
Nothing! We have assembled an incredibly strong team, with an exceptional line-up of vendors, and very excited to continue the journey.
When will the UK distribution market return to growth?
We continue to buck the trend at onemedia. We have seen growth of approximately 20% this year in technical distribution and are forecasting for this to increase significantly in 2025.
Name one area of your business where you are expecting to add staff in 2025
Additional internal sales resource to continue to drive growth for all our vendors.
If you could be a fly on the wall for a day at another distributor, which would you choose?
Several of our team and management have experience at other distributors and have ‘seen behind the curtain’. I’m sure that all of the AV distributors are striving for the same results, but we are completely focused on delivering growth for our vendors and always offering exceptional service for our customers.
