When Rigby Group sold Nuvias to Infinigate in 2022, it held onto this unified comms-focused arm of the business.
Last year, Nuvias UC moved to appoint a completely new management team, including CEO Joel Chimoindes (see Q&A with Chimoindes below).
Accounts for Nuvias UC’s year to 31 March 2023 show flatish revenues of £106.4m – £92.6m of which was drawn from the UK.
The Newbury-based outfit was originally built on Nuvias’ 2016 acquisition of SIPHON Networks.
“We’re cautiously optimistic about the second half of the year”
Q&A with CEO Joel Chimoindes
What is Nuvias UC’s sweet spot?
Working with our partners on converged communications solutions – the integration of collaboration, telephony, UCaaS, and CCaaS to deliver a seamless user experience. We’re technically competent across the portfolio to support our partners’ needs.
Which product, service or vendor has stood out for you in 2024?
Zoom – the pace of platform development has been remarkable, with over 3,000 features added in the last 12 months. Their telephony and CCaaS growth has been especially impressive.
If you could change one thing about your business at the stroke of a wand, what would it be?
As everyone knows, I’m impatient! Even though the business is executing our strategy well and we’re on track, I’d love to move even faster.
When will the UK distribution market return to growth?
In converged communications, it’s been mixed. Enterprise spending has slowed, impacting growth, but SMB has remained strong. We’re cautiously optimistic about the second half of the year as our pipeline builds.
Name one area of your business where you are expecting to add staff in 2025
Technical and professional services. Our service portfolio extends the capacity of our partners in pre-sales, implementation, and post-support, covering collaboration, telephony, UCaaS, and CCaaS.
At its Channel Forums EMEA in October, Canalys characterised AWS Marketplace as one of the world’s largest distributors, owing to its growing third-party software business. On balance, do you agree?
Absolutely. AWS Marketplace offers software solutions along with a host of value-add capabilities that partners can resell, bundled with their own services. This is software distribution and they do it really well.
If you could be a fly on the wall for a day at another distributor, which would you choose?
Dave Watts’ office, TD Synnex UK. It would be educational, enlightening, and entertaining. Dave’s leadership style is uniquely his own.
