Hot on the heels of Kaseya becoming the world’s top MSP software vendor, its long-time CEO Fred Voccola is transitioning from the role to become its Vice Chairman.

In a move characterised as a “step up”, Voccola will now focus on “long-term innovation and strategy” while a successor is sought.

Voccola took the reins of Insight Partners-backed Kaseya in 2015, overseeing its $6.2bn monster acquisition of PSA vendor Autotask in 2022.

News of his role change comes after Kaseya displaced ConnectWise as the largest MSP software vendor by marketshare in Q3, according to Canalys.

Kaseya did this partly by “seducing” MSPs with its Kaseya 365 unified subscription service, Canalys analyst Robin Ody told IT Channel Oxygen.

“With Kaseya coming off the strongest quarter and year in our history, now is the right time for me to step up into the role of Vice Chairman and hand over operating responsibilities to a new CEO,” Voccola stated.

“It has been the honour of my professional life to lead Kaseya and work alongside the talented team that has driven our success.”

The bombshell comes less than four months after his opposite number at ConnectWise, Jason Magee, exited, to be replaced by Manny Rivelo.

Voccola is helping the board hire a new CEO to run day-to-day operations as Kaseya “enters its next phase of growth and lays the foundation for a potential public offering”.

Kevin Thompson, who will help with the search, said:

“Kaseya’s future is incredibly bright, and I’m excited to work with Fred and the board to identify a new leader who will guide the company through this transformative period.”
