Telefónica Tech UK&I today unveiled a new CEO in the form of Martyn Bullerwell.

Bullerwell’s appointment follows the departure of predecessor Mark Gorton after three years in the hotseat and comes six months after the ‘next-gen solutions provider’ moved into a swanky new London HQ.

Here we round up four fun facts from the announcement…

1. Bullerwell joined via M&A

Telefónica Tech’s UK business is based on a brace of early-decade acquisitions in the form of HPE partner Cancom UK&I (purchased in 2021) and Microsoft ally Incremental Group (snapped up in 2022).

Bullerwell joined indirectly via 2021 Incremental acquisition Adatis, a Microsoft data analytics specialist he founded and built.

Before being handed the UK&I reins, he served as Telefónica Tech’s UK&I’s VP of the Data & AI Practice.

“With extensive experience in technology leadership and a proven track record in scaling businesses, he is well positioned to lead the company’s next phase of growth and innovation in the UK and Ireland,” the company stated.

2. Telefónica Tech turned over €1bn in H1

The move comes after Spain-headquartered Telefónica Tech breached the €1bn revenue barrier in the first six months of 2025.

Its first-half tally rose 9.6% year on year to €1.07bn, with the Q2 total hiking 12.5% to €566m.

It attributed the rise partly to “solid execution” in key sectors such as public services, financial services, and healthcare, which it said together account for nearly 40% of its total sales. It also bolstered its cyber portfolio during the quarter by inking strategic partnerships with Wiz and SpyCloud.

3. His appointment mirrors group CEO arrival

Bullerwell’s appointment comes just four months after Telefónica moved to appoint a new group CEO for Telefónica Tech in the form of Sofía Collado.

She joined the company in April from Indra, where she was Chief Human Resources Officer, and before that spent nearly 15 years at consultancies Bain & Company and McKinsey & Company.

Collado is now in charge of a Telefónica Tech outfit whose specialisms encompass cybersecurity, cloud, IoT, big data, AI and blockchain services.

4. Telefónica Tech UK&I claims it’s seeing ‘tangible growth’

Bullerwell’s appointment comes at “a time of tangible growth for Telefónica Tech UK&I”.

Telefónica Tech claimed its new 20 Fenchurch Street HQ is a “physical reflection” of its evolution as a “leading technology solutions provider”.

“I am excited to take on this role and to build on the strong foundation laid by Mark and the leadership team. We will continue to focus on delivering value for our customers and driving sustainable growth in our markets,” Bullerwell said.
