Ingram Micro UK boss Matthew Sanderson has been tasked with running the distributor’s entire $14bn-revenue EMEA business.

As of 1 June, Sanderson will become Executive VP and President of EMEA as the role’s current occupant – Mark Snider – retires.

Sanderson is a 30-year Ingram veteran, having spent the last six years as its Senior Vice President and Chief Country Executive for the UK, Ireland & Switzerland.

News of his promotion comes after the world’s second largest IT distributor beat expectations by growing net sales 11% year on year in constant currencies to $12.28bn in Q1.

Its EMEA arm saw net sales inch up 0.6% in dollar terms to $3.4bn amid growth in PCs, component, storage and cloud (currency effects had a two percentage point negative impact).

Having relisted on the New York Stock Exchange in October, Ingram is now positioning itself as a “platform” business through its AI-powered Xvantage platform.

Ingram Micro UK earned a Great Place to Work certification and “became a pioneer in the rollout and adoption of Xvantage” under Sanderson’s leadership, the distributor said.

“Over his thirty-year career at Ingram Micro, Matt has earned recognition as an industry leader across Australia, the UK, and Ireland,” Ingram CEO Paul Bay stated.

“We’re excited to elevate his role and are confident he’ll continue driving growth throughout EMEA- advancing the success of our customers, vendors, and team.”

“This is an exciting time for Ingram Micro as we see the positive impact our talent and technology continue to have on our customers, vendors, and the tech industry at large,” Sanderson stated.

“I am honoured to serve as EVP and President of EMEA. I want to thank Mark for his mentorship and leadership, and I look forward to sharing in the growing success of our team, customers, and vendor partners.”
