Northamber has hailed its acquisition of unified comms and collaboration (UC&C) distributor Tempura Communications as a “significant milestone” in its growth strategy.

Having expanded its audiovisual business in 2020 by acquiring Audio Visual Material, AIM-listed Northamber has now done the same in the UC&C space with the deal.

Founded in 2002, Basingstoke-based Tempura partners with the likes of Yealink, Logitech, Interoute and Konftel. It claims to serve over 1,500 resellers.

The deal builds on a partnership £70m-revenue Northamber inked with Yealink in 2022

It comes after new MD Jeremy Keefe told IT Channel Oxygen in January that Northamber will retain its focus on its traditional peripherals/document management and solutions-based businesses, while growing in AV UC&C and cyber.

“We’ve recently moved into UC&C and are looking for vendors to partner with that will complement the current solutions sets we’ve got there,” he said at the time.

A change for the batter?

According to its latest accounts filed on Companies House, Tempura has 12 staff. Its portfolio spans networking/connectivity, voice and UC.

Tempura MD Mathew Light will join Northamber’s senior management team as part of the deal.

“We see a great many synergies with Northamber, including its culture, products and services and I am pleased to be joining the senior management team of a founder friendly business and to become a shareholder in the company,” Light said in a prepared statement.

“This acquisition aligns perfectly with our commitment to offering comprehensive technology solutions to our customers,” Northamber Chairman Alex Phillips stated.

“Tempura brings a wealth of expertise in unified communications and collaboration, which will complement our existing offerings and enhance the value we deliver to our customers.”
