7. For-sale sign staked outside Supplies and AV – late December
It soon became apparent that AURELIUS’ strategy to save at least something from the wreckage was to sell off Exertis UK’s most-viable assets.
By the end of the month, management had told staff it had staked a for-sale sign outside its Exertis Supplies and AV arms.
By the end of January, Exertis UK successfully reached an agreement to sell Exertis Supplies to evo, which has a warehouse 30 miles away from its Elland warehouse.
News that Evo/VOW could be acquiring Exertis Supplies garnered mixed reaction among staff when news of a potential deal broke, however.
According to a Measures Letter, the contents of which were communicated by staff to IT Channel Oxygen, VOW was proposing to acquire the stock and customer list only, and to close its Elland site. It said it intended to keep on just 28 of its 186 staff, all of whom would transfer to its Normanton HQ.
A buyer for AV was never found.
