Having the backing of a one-year manufacturer’s warranty will “make all the difference” for resellers wishing to offer refurbished HP laptops and PCs, a TD Synnex executive has claimed.

HP in May rolled its portfolio of certified refurbished PCs to the UK under the HP Renew Solutions banner.

TD Synnex has now announced it has availability of HP Certified Refurbished laptops and desktops via the scheme.

Crucially, the refurbished devices are backed by the vendor’s warranty, James Reed, Managing Director – Endpoint Solutions, UK and Ireland at TD Synnex, stressed.

“SMBs want to embrace the circular economy just as much as enterprises and the availability of HP Renew Solutions from TD Synnex enables partners to meet all their customers’ demands for more sustainable IT products that will help them to run their business efficiently,” Reed stated.

“Having the backing of a one-year manufacturer’s warranty makes all the difference. It means that partners can offer – and end-user customers can buy – refurbished HP laptops and PCs with complete confidence.”

“Too early to forecast demand”

Talking to IT Channel Oxygen in May, HP’s Northwest Europe MD Neil Sawyer claimed the excitement around HP’s new warranty-backed refurbished PCs is “palpable” as he revealed the two ways it will take the new offering to market.

HP intends to scale the scheme “in a big way”, Sawyer claimed.

TD Synnex currently has a “limited number” of HP refurbished models available, mainly from the HP EliteBook 800 series, but plans to expand availability “over the coming months”, Reed told IT Channel Oxygen.

Route one is via a select group of partners who have invested heavily in their own circular IT infrastructure (including SCC), with the second route being to the wider channel via distribution.

‘While we expect to see significant interest in the HP Renew Solutions, it’s too early to forecast the level of demand,” he added.

All HP Renew Solutions purchases made by registered or accredited partners – as well their sales of new HP products – will fall under the HP Amplify programme and give them access to the same benefits and incentives, TD Synnex stressed.
