Lee Dutton says he’d achieved all his goals at Misco as he opened up on why he has left the reseller to head up an assistive technology provider.
Dutton rejoined Misco as Sales Director in 2020 following its revival under new ownership, having previously spent 17 years at the Wellingborough-based outfit between 2000 and 2017.
Talking to IT Channel Oxygen, Dutton revealed he will now become MD of StudyTech.
It manages Disabled Students Allowance assessments and provides associated hardware, training and support.
“After five highly successful years, it simply felt like the right time to move on,” Dutton said.
“When I joined Misco for this second tenure, I had a very clear set of objectives, and I’m proud to say my team and I achieved them all.
“We successfully built out and scaled the public sector business, securing access to key public sector frameworks that will drive sustainable, long-term growth.”
Ranking 69th in Oxygen 250 2025, Misco saw calendar 2024 revenues hike 22% to £89.6m.
“We successfully cracked the £100m-revenue milestone and I leave behind a strong, sales management team to lead the business into its next phase,” Dutton said.
“Misco is now extremely well-positioned for the next phase of its growth journey, and I feel I have completed what I set out to do.”
Dutton characterised his move to StudyTech, which along with Capita has the contract for running the DSA for the government, as a “natural next step”.
“I’m joining a business full of highly talented professionals dedicated to improving educational outcomes for disabled students,” Dutton said.
“It’s a chance to apply my commercial skills to a company which delivers significant social value. I can’t wait to get started.”
