Dell partner MTI has become a €300m player overnight after forming a joint venture with fellow Ricoh-owned stablemate PFH Technology Group.

Having acquired MTI in 2020, Japanese-headquartered print and IT services giant Ricoh went on to snap up Ireland-based PFH in 2023.

Now it is combining the two IT solutions providers under a unified board and combined leadership team helmed by Tom Randles (who is now CEO of both PFH and MTI).

It is characterising the enlarged business as a “full service technology solution provider”.

“Full end-to-end IT solutions capability”

The joint venture claims to unite more than 1,000 employees and serve 1,500 customers across the UK, Ireland and Germany.

In a LinkedIn post, Group Commercial Director Simon Rutt said the move plays into the growing trend within the customer base to consolidate suppliers and work with a few trusted partners.

“Now that MTI has access to PFH’s engineers, services, skills and purchasing power, we can pretty much offer the full end to end IT solutions capability, at scale, to all of our customers,” he wrote.

It is understood that previous MTI CEO Angelo di Ventura is leaving the business for another role.

When Ricoh acquired it in April 2023, Cork-headquartered AWS, Citrix, Commvault, Dell, HPE, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, Pure Storage and VMware partner PFH had 750 employees.

Its focus on managed workplace services as well as IT infrastructure will add another string to datacentre and cyber specialist MTI’s bow, Rutt said.

“This collaboration brings together the collective strengths of two highly respected organisations,” Randles stated in a press release.

“By aligning our leadership and strategic direction, we can deliver even greater value, scale, and capability to our customers, while preserving the strong identities and expertise that make MTI and PFH unique. We look forward to delivering even more value and innovation across our markets.”
