A Scottish HPE partner has launched a ‘National Cloud’ aimed at organisations “looking to escape the limitations of public cloud services”.
DataVita says its new platform is designed for workloads that don’t fit well into the traditional public cloud, and offers full transparency and predictability over costs.
Built on HPE GreenLake, it is delievered from what DataVita says are some of the most sustainable datacentres in the UK.
The cloud infrastructure services market continues to grow at close to 20%, with AWS, Microsoft and Google pocketing an ever-greater share of the spoils, according to Canalys.
But last October, Ofcom referred AWS and Microsoft’s UK public cloud market dominance to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), citing potential concerns over egress fees, interoperability and committed spend discounts. The CMA published an updated Issue Statement on its investigation in June.
“National Cloud is our answer”
DataVita’s National Cloud removes the risk of incurring “potentially infinite costs” that come with pay-as-you-go public cloud models, it claimed.
“National Cloud is our answer to the recurring issues organisations face with public cloud services,” DataVita MD Danny Quinn (pictured, top) stated.
“We’re actively seeking out workloads that public clouds can’t efficiently support, particularly those driven by AI’s growing demands and organisations requiring intricate hybrid cloud architectures.
“Our platform offers the performance, security, and scalability needed for these intensive applications, all while providing cost predictability and sustainability.”
DataVita claims its datacentre design has a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.18, which it said is significantly lower than the average global data centre PUE of 1.55. It also utilises 100% free air cooling.
Xavier Poisson, global vice president for service providers & colocation providers at HPE, commented: “The National Cloud combines HPE GreenLake cloud’s leading capabilities to manage, observe, automate and secure complex cloud environments, with DataVita’s experience as a leading provider of cloud and connectivity services.
“With this new platform customers across the UK will have access to a trusted infrastructure that allows them to stay in full control of their data and derive value from it.”
