3. XMA

Deals announced in 2024: Datapack Ltd (summer), Sync (January)

Appetite for M&A

XMA’s recent annual accounts filing brought the surprise news that it has quietly acquired not one, but two, sizeable peers in 2024.

In January, the Nottingham-based reseller snapped up giant Apple reseller GMB Digital Technologies Group (as confirmed here). Trading as Sync (as well as Kingsfield IT), it turned over £208m in 2022.

But the filing also confirmed it has acquired part of Irish reseller Datapac from former sister company Westcoast.

Talking to IT Channel Oxygen, XMA CRO Kelvin Lee confirmed the latter deal covered Datapac’s managed print-focused corporate reseller activities (amounting to around €40m of revenues). Westcoast is holding onto the retail-focused portion of Datapac’s business, he added.

What they said

“XMA remain acquisitive moving into 2025 and beyond. We’re looking to strengthen all areas of our business,” Kelvin Lee, CRO, XMA.

Fun fact

XMA acquired GBM with so little fanfare that the entire channel press (including IT Channel Oxygen) seemingly missed the deal.
