5. Kocho

Hannah Birch, Node4
Hannah Birch

Old name: The Internet Group (TiG)

Date of name change: 2022

Rationale

In the 2020s, using your name to broadcast exactly what you do has become rather passe.

And for none more so than this London-based Microsoft partner, which ditched its ‘The Internet Group’ moniker in 2022 to rebrand as Kocho (which comes from the Japanese word for butterfly).

The brand facelift coincided with TiG’s merger with Third Space, which it acquired the previous year.

What happened next?

Ranking 113th in Oxygen 250 2026, Kocho has grown to become a £40m-plus-revenue outfit.

It last year welcomed in a new CEO in the form of Hannah Birch.
