Resellers dominate latest iteration, but who came out on top?

SHI

Status: ‘Niche Player’

Any change from 2022? Not massively: Gartner categorised SHI as a ‘Niche Player’ last year too. Its dot this year is a bit further up and a bit further left.

Summary

Although US-based SHI does operate in the UK, Gartner noted that SHI’s SAM managed services revenue is “almost entirely driven” by North America.

It is therefore a “good fit for small and midsize organisations in North America looking to engage on a continuous or scheduled basis”. But the analyst warned prospective clients to “assess the provider’s ability to fulfil their requirements, especially for future challenges”.

Strengths

SHI received praise for its growing and expanding services, cloud spend optimisations and for tracking and delivering services.

Cautions

The US-based reseller has “below-average investment” in its delivery platform, Gartner said, with its product management function appearing “mainly oriented to the first layers of SAM and FinOps services”.

SHI was also marked down for having a “below-average vendor scope in services” (with 99% of contracts having five vendors or fewer in scope), as well as its “limited international outreach”.
