Transputec has promised a “smooth transition” for Armadillo Managed Services staff and customers after confirming it has acquired the cybersecurity specialist.

Founded in 2001, Uxbridge-based cyber resilience specialist Armadillo counts Deutsche Bank, Department for Transport, Credit Suisse, Sony and Paddy Power among its clients, according to its website. Employing an average of 14 staff in its latest annual period, its vendor allies include Tanium.

London-based MSP Transputec was quick to emphasise that the Armadillo leadership and delivery team will remain in place, “ensuring a smooth transition and ongoing support for clients and partners”.

“This marks an important moment for both companies and, most importantly, for the people and clients behind them,” Transputec Chairman Rickie Sehgal said in a statement to IT Channel Oxygen.

“Armadillo has spent over two decades building a strong reputation in cybersecurity and infrastructure services. By joining forces, we’re not just combining capabilities; we’re preserving the talent, values, and customer relationships that made Armadillo trusted in the first place.”

FRP Advisory was appointed as administrators of Armadillo 4 June, according to a Companies House filing. Transputec confirmed it acquired the business on 5 June.

The move comes after Transputec – whose revenues hit £24.2m in its year to 31 March 2024 – last month launched a dedicated AI division.

Founded in 1994 by Sehgal and brother Sonny, Transputec employs around 190 staff in the UK, Europe and offshore locations including the Philippines.

Transputec’s move to bolster its cyber skills comes after the world’s largest publicly listed cybersecurity vendors saw their collective growth accelerate to 16% in Q1. The recent wave of cyber-attacks on giant retailers including M&S and Coop brought even more urgency to security conversations at last week’s Infosec show, onlookers told IT Channel Oxygen.

“We’re proud to welcome the Armadillo team and to build on their legacy, preserving what made them successful while opening up new possibilities for innovation and value creation,” Sehgal said.

“Going forward, they’ll also benefit from access to Transputec’s broader range of solutions, from 24/7 support and managed services, to AI and digital transformation expertise.”
