Graeme Watt has made a return of sorts to his distribution heartland, taking up the post of Chairman of the Board at Infinigate.
Having previously held senior leadership roles at distributors Bell Microproducts, Avnet and Tech Data for over two decades, Watt in 2017 hopped across into the reseller space when he became Softcat CEO.
Moving from Softcat CEO to Chairman last August, Watt has now been tasked with helping steer €2.3bn-revenue VAD Infinigate through its “next phase of expansion”.
He was picked by the Switzerland-based distributor – which supercharged its UK business through the 2022 acquisitions of Nuvias and Vuzion – and its majority owners, Bridgepoint.
The role will see Watt “oversee the strategic development of Infinigate’s growing business, lead the governance and assist the leadership team to accelerate the achievement of Infinigate’s goals”.
“There is a considerable opportunity for specialist, added-value cybersecurity platforms and Infinigate has the expertise, business know-how and market reach to succeed,” Watt stated.
Klaus Schlichtherle, CEO of the Infinigate Group added: “We are delighted to welcome Graeme as President of the Board for the Infinigate Group. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to help us pave the way to our ambitious goals and shared success with our channel and vendor partners.”
Talking to IT Channel Oxygen, Watt added: “No doubt it is a return to distribution and I think Softcat and Infinigate can both benefit from the unique lens I will have in the channel from both a distribution and solutions provider perspective.
“Infinigate are operating in the perennial sweet spot of IT infrastructure and I get to work with Klaus Schlichtherle again (Infinigate CEO – we worked together back in the 90’s at Computer 2000 ). What is there not to like? I can‘t wait to get stuck in.”
