One of Europe’s largest resellers has just launched a CSR “digital media outlet”, in a move it says reflects the “growing importance of non-financial indicators”.
Paris-based Econocom’s new ‘Impact’ hub will feature infographics, podcasts, videos and articles underlining its CSR commitments.
The initiative is part of the recently unveiled ‘One Econocom’, a five-year growth plan featuring several extra-financial performance initiatives. These include a focus on repairability, lengthening the life of customers’ digital asset, and carbon reduction.
Targeting revenues of €4bn by 2028, Econocom operates in the UK via its Trams business, which ranked 77th in the recent Oxygen 250 report. Econocom also recently unveiled a new pan-European audio-visual brand, Gather.
Markers for Econcom’s CSR commitments include a Gender Equality Index score of 94 points in France and an EcoVadis rating of 70/100, awarded with a gold medal.
Econocom’s energy consumption from its internal IT is now three-and-a-half times lower than it was in 2017, it claimed, adding that it refurbished 493,000 digital devices in 2023 and extended the lifespan of these devices by an average of three to four years.
The purpose of the media outlet is “not to just be a showcase”, Econocom said, however, emphasising that it offers a space for sharing experiences and indepth discussions.
“Our impact is not just measured in revenue or market shares, but also in positive contributions to society, the environment and the lives of all our employees,” said Jean-Louis Bouchard, Chairman and Managing Director of the Econocom group (pictured top).
“The offers we develop and the initiatives we launch result from reflections on their overall impact, based on transparency and scientific measurement of our performance. I’m very proud to see the concrete actions we’ve taken to reduce our environmental footprint and that of our clients.
“So I’m especially pleased about the launch of our site Impact as a leading witness of our responsible commitments.”
