Newly demerged TalkTalk Business has moved to bolster its IT managed services prowess by acquiring £16m-revenue Planet IT.

Having separated from TalkTalk in February 2026, TalkTalk Business declared ambitions to move beyond its roots in connectivity and into managed services.

Now it has made good on this aim by snapping up Oxfordshire-based IT support, cyber and Microsoft specialist Planet IT.

Ranking 242nd in Oxygen 250 2026 and an alumnus of Oxygen Fast-Growth 50, Planet IT turned over £16.4m in calendar 2024.

Planet IT founders and childhood best friends Gavin Jones and Sean Smith – whose business ties date back to when they launched a car-washing business aged 12 – will remain with the business, TalkTalk Business stressed.

TalkTalk Business turned over £67.7m in its shortened ten-month calendar 2024 period.

Planet IT’s offering will complement its national reach connectivity solutions, advanced networking and UC solutions, it said, emphasising that it now styles itself as a “managed network services provider”.

“Bringing Planet IT into TalkTalk Business is an important step in expanding our managed services capabilities,” Ruth Kennedy, CEO at TalkTalk Business, stated.

“Over the past two decades, we have built a strong reputation for delivering high quality IT support and services. Joining TalkTalk Business gives us the scale and investment to build on that success,” Jones added.

“My co-founder Sean Smith and I will remain with the business, along with our leadership team, directors and staff, so our customers and suppliers will continue working with the same people they know and trust.”
