Appetite for M&A
The most-acquisitive MSP of 2024 (by our estimations) had a relatively quiet and retiring 2025 on the M&A trail as it turned its attention to integrating previous purchases.
The SME-focused comms and IT provider acquired just three peers last year, compared with 11 in 2024.
This includes 33-employee IT MSP Chalkline in November.
“We’ve spent the last three or four years doing 30-35 acquisitions, and I think we needed some time to digest them,” Neil Hall, CEO of the £250m-revenue, Bowmark Capital-backed outfit told us following that deal.
“We’re doing a huge amount of work on the foundations of the business so it can scale 3X over the next cycle.”
What they said
“I think we’ll do more acquisitions [in 2026] than in 2025, and I think they’ll be larger at an EBIT level. And I think where you’ve typically seen a lot of telecoms acquisitions in the past few years, there will be a stronger balance between tech – IT, cyber and AI – versus telecoms,” – Focus Group CEO Neil Hall
