10. Bechtle

Deals announced in 2024: DriveWorks (October), Qolcom (October)

Appetite for M&A

Considering Bechtle has pledged to become a “top 10 IT solutions provider” in the UK, it was no surprise to see the German giant splashing the cash on two acquisitions here in October.

Bechtle

Having acquired €30m-revenue, 44-employee wireless network reseller Qolcom near the start of the month, it then gobbled up 59-employee, €6.5m-revenue Solidworks ISV partner DriveWorks nine days later.

Thanks partly to the bulk added by 2023 acquisition Tangible Benefit, Bechtle claims it is now a €290m-revenue business in the UK.

What they said

“The Qolcom team’s knowledge, expertise and strong customer and vendor relationships will add significant strength to Bechtle UK’s position in the mid-market, enterprise and public sector networking and security space,” Bechtle UK MD James Napp said.

Fun fact

High interest rates prompted Bechtle to take a nifty approach to raising financing for its latest tranche of M&A – 12 months ago it placed convertible bonds with a total nominal value of €300m.
