How can the channel link rising e-waste volumes with tackling digital inclusion?
That’s the topic explored in the latest ‘NatChat’ podcast from Natilik, which features as its guest KOcycle Founder and MD Oli Mason.
KOcycle last month unveiled its digital inclusion initiative ‘KODI’.
It is designed to rip up the IT disposal rulebook by making it quick and easy for organisations to donate used devices to charities and then measure the social impact.
Mason is the latest guest on NatChat, a regular technology podcast series from London-based technology services provider Natilik.

In the ten-minute discussion, Natilik Senior Marketing Manager Hayley Knott and Mason delve deeper into the rationale behind KODI.
E-waste is the world’s number-one growing waste stream, according to the UN, Mason emphasised. But at the same time, the government has “no credible strategy to tackle digital exclusion”, a select committee found in 2023.
“It’s been estimated that this country is losing £63bn of revenue a year through a lack of IT skills. There are 1.2m households without access to broadband… this to me makes no sense,” Mason said.
“It’s about how you then try and link that number-one growing waste stream into being a force for good – and for us that’s always been about promoting digital inclusion.”
The demand for KODI during a six-month proof of concept was “huge”, Mason told Knott.
“With no advertising, there were 50-60 requests in the space of the first three months, all in fives and 10s,” he said.
“Hopefully [KODI] leads to a large increase in those willing to give devices, because certainly, the demand is there from those wanting to receive them.”
