UK partners have rallied round those hit by Microsoft’s latest layoffs, with several pointing affected employees towards open roles in their organisations.
Just days after announcing an 18% year-on-year jump in profits, Microsoft earlier this week confirmed in a CNBC report that it is laying off 3% of its global workforce – or around 6,000 staff.
The current round of redundancies – Microsoft’s largest since it jettisoned 10,000 staff in 2023 – reportedly disproportionately affected coding roles.
It comes after Microsoft reported net income of $25.8bn in what was a blowout fiscal third quarter – an 18% leap.
Vendor land’s high salaries (Microsoft’ 5,300 UK employees command an average [mean] wage of £139,000, fiscal 2024 UK accounts indicate) mean vendor staff can be regarded as being out of reach of the average partner (see more here).
Still, many UK Microsoft partners have taken to LinkedIn to show their solidarity with those affected and advertise the fact they have open roles.
Ascent
The UK MD of this Bristol-based Microsoft partner urged affected staff to check out its website for job opportunities.
Data, software and cloud specialist Ascent employs 530 staff across seven European locations, including the UK.
It is hiring for roles including architects, data scientists, data engineers and technical project managers, UK MD Simon Sear said (see below).

Pragmatiq
This Microsoft Dynamics and Power Platform specialist was recently named by IT Channel Oxygen among the UK’s fastest-growing channel partners by headcount for a second year running.
The Milton Keynes-based outfit’s CEO said he’d be “happy to chat” with anyone affected by the layoffs, adding that Pragmatiq is “always keen to connect with people who share our passion for innovation and digital transformation” (see below).
Crayon
This Norway-based software licensing powerhouse employs over 4,000 people in 46 countries, with Microsoft being by far its largest vendor partner.
Crayon License Sales Specialist Ron Spanjer said he’d “love” for any of those affected to check out Crayon’s open positions.
“We’re growing and looking for awesome new colleagues, especially those who know Microsoft and the value it brings to customers,” he said (see below).
Synyega
This independent SAM consultancy’s Head of Microsoft Intelligence – Richard Gibbons – was quick to reach out to those impacted.
Gibbons – a well-known authority in the Microsoft licensing world – invited anyone laid off to “give me a shout” (see below).
