ConnectWise has just announced a new CEO to guide it through “the next phase of its growth”.
Manny Rivelo replaces Jason Magee, who will step down five years after joining the MSP software vendor following its sale to Thoma Bravo.
The duo will work closely to ensure a smooth handover over the upcoming months, ConnectWise confirmed in a statement today.
But who is Manny Rivelo?
Here are five things MSPs need to know.
1. He comes fresh from Forcepoint…
Rivelo was most recently CEO of Forcepoint, resigning in July following a three-and-a-half-year stint at the web filtering vendor.
Highlights from his tenure at the Francisco Partners-backed outfit include selling off its government business and acquiring cloud access security broker vendor Bitglass.
2. …And with a varied CV
Rivelo has racked up 30 years of leadership experience at not only Forcepoint, but also Arista Networks, Cisco, AppViewX and F5 Networks (serving as the latter’s CEO for less than five months in 2015).
His expertise spans executive leadership, product management, customer success, and sales, ConnectWise claimed.
3. He’s a techie at heart
Rivelo hails from an engineering background, holding both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
On his own LinkedIn profile, he describes himself as a “natural problem solver”.
4. He’s bigging up AI
Rivelo – or whoever wrote his canned statement – was quick to pay the customary homage to the importance of AI in ConnectWise’s press release.
“Jason has done a phenomenal job positioning ConnectWise as a market leader, and I am eager to build on that success,” Rivelo stated.
“The rise of AI presents a game-changing opportunity for MSPs and their SMB clients. Through our purpose-built platform and industry-leading community, ConnectWise is equipping MSPs with the tools they need to thrive in an evolving market.”
5. He’s joining an MSP software giant
Rivelo has joined a company that more than quadrupled revenues during Magee’s tenure, according to ConnectWise.
Recent numbers from Canalys suggest ConnectWise and rival Kaseya now own over half of the global RMM/PSA market between them.
“I am proud of what our team has accomplished – scaling the business, expanding our product portfolio, and deepening our commitment to our partners,” Magee stated.
“With a solid foundation now in place, I believe this is the right time for me to step down and hand over the reins to a leader who can guide ConnectWise through its next phase of growth.”
