This sportswear giant acknowledged that “certain consumer data” was taken during a cyber-attack last month.

The Adidas attack “quickly entered public consciousness due in part to the highly regarded nature of the Adidas brand”, Computacenter’s Dr Colin Williams said as he explained why he put it in his top five.

“This type of supply attack can impact any organisation with outsourced services or external connected partners and is an example of the damaging impact to Adidias of a cyber breach within a trusted third-party supplier with legitimate access to Adidas data or systems,” he said.

“With interconnectivity the norm across organisations, optimal third-party and supply chain security is crucial,” Williams said.
