Bechtle this morning announced plans to make current COO Konstantin Ebert its CEO.
Here are four things to know about the 54-year old boss-in-waiting.
1. He has a one-year wait
Bechtle’s Supervisory Board this morning announced it has resolved to designate Ebert as current CEO Dr Thomas Olemotz’s successor. The move should be formally adopted on 4 February 2026.
But a bit like Graeme Watt’s long goodbye at Softcat (Watt relinquished the CEO reins 13 months after announcing his resignation), Olemotz will remain in post for more than a year (his contract runs until 31 December 2026).
2. From COO to CEO
In taking the reins of mainland Europe’s largest reseller, Ebert will be following a well-trodden COO-to-CEO exec progression path.
In his current COO role, the 54-year-old oversees multichannel operations across France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
His exec journey echoes that of TD Synnex CEO Patrick Zammit, who was promoted from the COO seat last year, among others.
3. He’s overseen overseas offensive
Germany-based Bechtle is now a €290m-revenue business in the UK following a series of acquisitions here, and has also made a number of M&A moves in other European countries including Spain, the Netherlands and Italy. Its total 2024 top line reached around €8bn.
Ebert was credited by Bechtle’s Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Klaus Winkler, for driving this international expansion “with impressive momentum”.
“With him, a firm believer in the European idea and a true team player will chair the Executive Board – someone who truly embodies Bechtle’s values and brings fresh impetus to the company’s ongoing development,” Winkler said.
4. Vendors are on his curriculum vitae
Before joining Bechtle in 2021, Ebert spent four years at remote desktop software vendor TeamViewer and nine years at storage vendor NetApp.
The Heidelberg-based father of three’s CV also includes stints at Fujitsu Siemens Computers and T-Systems Business Services.
