7. “We became a smart buildings specialist by mistake”

Moto Shakoori, Ideal

Who said it? Moto Shakoori, CEO of Brighton-based Cisco partner Ideal

What was he referring to?

Talking to IT Channel Oxygen in November, Shakoori revealed that Ideal is aiming to win 50 new enterprise clients in 2025 as it strives to make smart buildings “just one of five things we do”.

Founded in 2009, Ideal won its first major client two years later in the shape of IKEA.

A second “defining moment” in Ideal’s history came in 2014 when it secured its first smart buildings deal with Twickenham Stadium.

“We did Twickenham, then it just blew up, Shakoori said.

“I want to bring that back now. I want to grow our enterprise customers.”
