Jon Atherton has been given a brief of scaling Titan Data Solutions after joining the storage distributor as Group MD.
Atherton will start the role on 1 July, having announced his decision to vacate the MD seat at Ci Distribution in April.
The move was trailed in a LinkedIn post last week by Titan MD Steve Low, who will now move to COO.
Atherton’s arrival will give Titan – which saw revenues jump by a third to £36.8m in its most recent financial year – “the leadership, focus and capacity” to reach the “next level”, Low claimed.
“We’ve built strong foundations over the last seven years – now it’s time to scale,” he said.
“Normal stuff an MD would do”
Talking to IT Channel Oxygen, Atherton reiterated that his mission is to “scale” Titan.
He will oversee Titan’s business not only in the UK, but also in Sweden and Dubai, where it recently opened a warehouse.
“It’s to scale and support them from a commercial perspective, with my background, experience, knowledge and contacts – and support them with all the process-driven and normal stuff an MD would do to drive a hungry, successful business,” he said.
Founded in 2018, Titan ranked 32nd in the Oxygen 50 Must-Know IT Distributors and Marketplaces 2025. It counts Hammerspace, NVIDIA, Parallels, QNAP, Quantum, Scale Computing, Seagate Systems, Supermicro, Synology and Toshiba Electronics Europe among its vendors.
It last January moved to poach two top execs from rival Hammer (then known as Exertis Enterprise), in the form of Phil Browne and Matthew Croucher.
Atherton characterised Titan as a specialist in storage, server, HPC “and any technology that underpins AI infrastructure”.
“I’ve known the boys for a number of years, and supported them in their business from afar in many ways. Both parties know each other well, and I’m really excited in joining another specialist distie,” he concluded.
