MSP Marketing Masterclass sets March date

"This is an industry first - noone has done one specifically on how MSPs can win clients," says xpandly's Jay Janes

An MSP marketing ace will walk through his top tips and tricks at an ‘MSP Marketing Masterclass’.

Taking place on 28 March in central London, the full-day event is the brainchild of Jay Janes.

Janes walked away from a £275,000-a-year job in distribution in 2022 to fill a “glaring” gap in the market with his new MSP marketing agency xpandly.

Since it was formed last March, xpandly claims to have created £75m in client opportunities, generating an average of 38 leads per campaign – which it says he can prove with real-time data at the event.

“Everything we do is data-driven and displayed in real-time. If you follow me on LinkedIn, you’ll see that I post real-time data visualisations showcasing our performance,” – says Janes.

“MSPs can implement this straight away”

The masterclass is designed to teach MSP pros all the strategies and tactics they can adopt to boost new customer acquisition and expand existing customers.

Talking to IT Channel Oxygen, Janes billed the event as an “industry first”, emphasising that it will feature real-time demos and will be fully interactive.

“There are generalist marketing events, but this is an industry first. Noone has done one specifically on how MSPs can win clients,” he said.

“This is event is unique because we are going to be doing some step-by-step demos on how to actually do the things we do, rather than just show some slides and talk about it”.

“None of this is too complicated or overwhelming. It’s all stuff MSPs can implement straight away when they get back to the office, or even, while they are at the event.”

The event will cover “marketing fundamentals” such as marketing tools, platforms and data, as well as “strategy and tactics” around demand creation, social media, video, content strategy, SEO, paid advertising, AI best practice, automation and attribution. The day will also feature a Q&A session with Janes.

Limited-attendance event

Taking place between 10am and 4.30pm in Paddington on 28 March, the 75-person event costs £395 to attend (register here) – a price deliberately chosen to guard against dropouts.

“We’re charging an amount that is enough to commit the MSP to going, but not so much that it’s out of an MSP’s price range to go. It’s a limited-attendance event. If it was free, there is a risk people will register and not turn up, which would prohibit other people who want to come from coming,” Janes explained.

MSPs will receive maximum bang for their buck, Janes said, however, emphasising that attendees of the fully catered event will enjoy access to a free on-site photographer for professional headshots.

“Something for everyone”

The masterclass will appeal to MSPs ranging from those who do no marketing at all, to those who have a marketing team but want to scale their efforts, Janes stressed.

“If they currently don’t do marketing, they’ll be able to take away some actions they can put into practice as soon as they get back to the office. We will show them the kind of content that is great for LinkedIn or, if they’re doing email marketing, what those emails should look like and the technical aspects to ensure deliverability is high,” he explained.

“If they’re currently already doing a bit of marketing but are struggling to get leads, we will show them how to optimise campaigns, how to do tooling, how to do data etc, to start improving their marketing activity.

“And if they already have a marketing team, we can go into more depth around how to get more scale.

“There’s a bit of something for everyone, but the agenda is quite concise in that nothing is going to be too complicated for anyone to do.”
