Brandefense CEO reveals ‘key advantage’ as it enters UK channel

Scale-up cybersecurity vendor targets UK channel growth

Scale-up cyber security vendor Brandefense possesses a “key advantage” over its competition, its CEO asserted as he unveiled plans to build a UK channel.

Offering brand protection, exposure management, cyber threat intelligence and supply chain security solutions via a unified SaaS platform, Brandefense aims to bring enterprise-grade cyber security to the midmarket.

Its Turkish roots give it an edge over the thousands of other cybersecurity vendors jostling to be the next Palo Alto Networks, Hakan Uzun told IT Channel Oxygen.

“There are 4,000 cybersecurity vendors in the world,” he told IT Channel Oxygen.

“We know that budgets are not unlimited today, so here we have a unique advantage.

“Our headquarters are in the US, but we are really proud to be born in Turkey. Because in Turkey, there is a cost advantage of developing those solutions, and also a high [level] of skills.

“This allows us to deliver enterprise-grade solutions with midmarket prices.

“That doesn’t mean this is at the expense of the partner community. We have built exceptional margins for our partners.”

Former McAfee, Infoblox and Forcepoint executive Uzun joined Brandefense as CEO in 2023, alongside co-founders Hakan Eryavuz and Mehmet Caner Koroglu.

The Delaware-based vendor’s international expansion drive comes after it scored $2.75m in a Pre-Series A funding round in December, despite overall VC funding levels falling to a five-year low last year.

Brandefense did the “groundwork” first by amassing hundreds of customers, Uzun said.

“We’d shown great success and profitability, which is not easy. [The funders] saw great potential for us to be a very big player internationally,” he explained.

Brandefense sees the UK as its “number one” focus in Europe, Uzun stressed.

The vendor is aiming to recruit a distributor and a maximum of four to six MSSPs and cybersecurity consultancy partners in 2024, Uzun said.

“We know the UK market is very open to adopting new and emerging vendors, but [only] those that show commitment to the channel ecosystem,” he said.
