Ingram Micro is now “operational across all countries and regions where we transact business”, the distributor confirmed this morning UK time following last week’s cyber-attack.
Last Saturday, Ingram announced it had identified ransomware on certain of its internal systems.
Its website had been down since the previous Thursday.
But early this morning UK time (10pm US Pacific time), Ingram announced on its dedicated blog site that it has now restored business operations globally.
Despite the knock-on effect to their own businesses, some of Ingram’s reseller and MSP partners have been quick to express their support for the $48bn-sales distributor.
“Cyber threats are an evolving, persistent challenge across the entire channel and for me this event is a reminder that even the largest, most prepared organisations aren’t immune,” Guy Hocking, the MD of Ingram Trust X Alliance partner Utilize, told IT Channel Oxygen on Tuesday.
“We’re doing everything we can as a partner to support them, but over communicating is equally a mistake as under communicating. I think that they’ve got the balance pretty bang on.”
“Grateful for the support”
In its latest update, Ingram said it is “grateful for the support we’ve received from our customers and industry colleagues”.
The latest bulletin follows an update earlier in the day bringing the news that the giant distributor had “contained and remediated” the affected systems.
“Our team has been working around the clock on this matter to restore affected systems. We have implemented additional safeguards and monitoring measures to protect our network environment as we bring our systems back online,” Ingram stated.
