Softcat says it has taken a “meaningful step” in expanding its US technical prowess.

The FTSE 250 IT reseller has hired three Senior Solutions Architects across the Atlantic in a move it says will enable it to better support existing customers and accelerate international growth.

It comes after Softcat CEO Graham Charlton stepped up his rhetoric on international growth at its Partner Summit in December. Softcat wants to make its customer proposition “the best in the world one day”, Charlton proclaimed at the time.

Boasting an office in Virginia, USA, Softcat said in its recent interim results that it expects to continue expanding its international footprint. It recently established a presence in Germany.

Softcat new branding

Softcat’s US technical expansion includes the appointment of three Senior Solutions Architects in the Architecture Services Team, supported by a focused technical go-to-market strategy.

“It’s brilliant to now have dedicated technical resource supporting our customers in the US,” Alan Spodick, Softcat’s Architecture Services Team Lead, stated.

“Seeing our Architecture Services grow with Senior Architects based stateside is genuinely exciting. They bring a huge amount of experience and technical capability, which means we can better support our existing customers and accelerate our international growth.”

In addition to its international growth drive, the Marlow-based reseller recently dipped its toe into the M&A water for the first time, acquiring Leeds-based data and AI consultancy Oakland.

Talking to IT Channel Oxygen ahead of the deal, Charlton said Softcat is “semi-actively” looking at two potential avenues in what he dubbed a “no-lose” M&A strategy.

“One is bolting on to our core business. The other is our accelerating our capability to work overseas for our customers,” he said at the time.
