Security training ‘doesn’t work’, CybSafe claims as it adopts channel-first mantra

Partners can create "genuine human risk management-as-a-service offering", Liza Weschta says

Security training “doesn’t work”, a cybersecurity start-up targeting the channel with a fresh human risk management approach has asserted.

Founded in 2017 by former UK Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel Oz Alashe MBE, CybSafe uses behavioural science to transform security awareness and human cyber risk management.

It recently switched to a 100% channel-first model, Head of EMEA Channel Sales Liza Weschta told IT Channel Oxygen.

“Just training your employees and phishing your employees doesn’t work,” Weschta said during the interview (see above).

“We’ve looked at the data, and under 15% of users who complete security awareness training actually change their behaviour.”

“We are the disrupter”

Boasting over one million users, CybSafe’s client base ranges from SOHOs to Barclays Bank and HSBC. The London-based outfit has raised a total $40m in funding.

Some 80% of data breaches are caused by employees clicking on a phishing link, a statistic CybSafe can help its partners “significantly reduce”, Weschta said.

“When it comes to the human risk management space, we are the disrupter,” Weschta said.

“With our platform, partners are able to create a genuine human risk management-as-a-service offering, where they can help reduce organisational risk because of human error.”

The vendor recently switched from a dual to a 100% channel-first model, enlisting Infinigate as a distributor.

An MSP programme slated for launch next quarter will enable partners to manage more customers at scale, Weschta said.

“We’re now looking at developing MSP-scalable features, which will help our partners spend less time on the platform, but still produce results for their customers and make them look good – and also meaningfully reduce the risk within organisations of all sizes,” she said.
