Polish backup ace Xopero reveals USP amid UK channel push

It already claims to be Poland’s second-largest backup vendor, behind only Veeam.

A Polish backup and recovery vendor is aiming to win over the UK channel with its EU-only status and emphasis on partner loyalty.

Xopero already claims to be Poland’s second-largest backup vendor, behind only Veeam.

It is now looking to mirror that success in the UK and internationally.

Talking to IT Channel Oxygen, newly appointed Head of Global Channel Sales Mateusz Wepa emphasised that Xopero’s product development and support is carried out exclusively in the EU.

This offers “tremendous value” for partners and customers concerned about data sovereignty in the current geopolitical climate, he said.

“We are a fully EU-based backup vendor. I don’t think any other vendor right now can claim that,” Wepa said.

Partner loyalty

Although Xopero has appointed e92plus as its sole distributor, the emphasis is on supporting partners with feet on the street, Wepa emphasised.

It already has over 120 customers in the UK.

“We’re going to build the whole strategy upon partner loyalty,” said Wepa, who previously the country manager for VAD iIT Distribution.

“We want to do a lot of events with them. We want to do a lot of enablement. We don’t want to just hand it off to a distributor, and not care.

“The best technology with a bad channel is always going to lose to a good technology with a great channel. The focus for me is providing the kind of channel that partners will want to work with.”

“Very ambitious”

Xopero’s offering is a good fit for MSPs and is “very, very scalable”, Wepa stressed.

Its ‘GitProtect’ DevOps backup and recovery stack hands it another key differentiator, he added.

“In that particular stack, we are a market leader – nobody does it better than us and we are actually being recommended by GitHub to do backup,” he said.

Asked about the scale of Xopero’s UK growth plans, Wepa characterised them as “very ambitious”.

“About 80% of our revenue is in Poland, and 20% from worldwide,” he explained.

“Within five years I want to shift it to the opposite and for 80% of the revenue to come from other markets. The UK should be one of the major components of that.

“The whole strategy of the company right now is designed for global expansion.”
