3. Computacenter CEO marks 30 years in the job

Mike Norris Group Sales kick off Berlin 2024 (1)
Mike Norris

When? January

He was already the FTSE 350’s longest-serving CEO (setting records that may never be broken).

But on 1 January 2025, Mike Norris reached another magic milestone as he marked 30 years in the top job at the largest UK-headquartered reseller and services firm.

Having joined Computacenter’s sales team in 1984, Norris earned promotions in 1988 and 1992 before being handed the top job in December 1994.

His official start date as CEO was on 1 January 1995.

Talking to IT Channel Oxygen last year, Norris attributed the feat to “getting the job young” (he was only 34 when he was handed the CEO reins), adding that “I’m not going anywhere yet, I promise”.

“I just make it a bit bigger, a bit faster and a bit smarter, and give better service. If you do all those things you’ll make money. I get a kick out of building it and I want to do it for as long as I can,” he said.

IT Channel Oxygen counts down 8 highlights from the straight-talking CEO’s three decades in charge here.
