Q1 acquisition activity: Resonate
M&A agenda
SCC promised more M&A when it unveiled a £300m warchest in November 2022 – and it wasn’t bluffing.
The £3.3bn-revenue juggernaut (which ranked 6th in the recent Oxygen 250) in February announced it had bought 150-employee Microsoft Teams ace Resonate.
The move doubles the size of its collaboration business.
It marked SCC’s third sizeable UK acquisition inside 12 months (following on from Vohkus in March 2023 and Nimble in September 2023).
What they said
“Vohkus was about giving us a play in the lower midmarket and upper SMB space on the VAR side, to bring our services into those customers. Nimble was about bringing bespoke digital transformation to [our] customers. This one gives us more capability in an area where we already had quite a lot – but it’s a unique offering on the services side of that.
“Our cross-sell agenda never stops, because the pace of technology change doesn’t stop. We will continue to look at companies that bring our clients something new,” – SCC’s Head of Strategy and Corporate Development, Christine Olmsted
Dazzling detail
Resonate counts an unnamed 180,000-seat energy giant among its enterprise-leaning client base.
“If you’ve got a company that has a client with 180,000 seats, suddenly that gives you a lot of referenceability,” SCC Collaboration Managing Director Graham Fry told IT Channel Oxygen.
