Emerging vendor tip: Cato Networks

Unlike its competitors, which primarily come from operating in the on-premises firewall and network security sector, Cato has carved out a niche by building a pure-play SASE solution from the ground up, with no on-premises legacy footprint to consider.

We’ve already seen the organisation become a leader in the SASE market, with this technology combining networking and security services in a cloud-based architecture for simplified management, reduced complexity and secure access. It’s going to be difficult for any other vendor to invest sufficiently in the technology to catch up with them. SASE technology has witnessed a lot of demand from the private sector industries, such as construction and manufacturing, but the public sector has yet to fully embrace it.

There’s a real untapped opportunity for local government, higher education and other public sector organisations to access much lower lifetime management costs with SASE, compared to managing expensive on-premise hardware across geographically spread locations. I expect to see more of the public sector considering SASE services in 2025.
