Brigantia is the “perfect counterpart” in the UK, the CEO of its new German owner has declared.
Employing 200 staff in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Nordics and Italy, Wetzlar-headquartered Elovade characterises itself as “one of Europe’s leading value-added software distributors”.
Its acquisition of cyber specialist Brigantia – which ranked 38th in Oxygen Must-Know Distributors 2024 – marks its UK entry and is its eighth and largest acquisition to date.
The transaction will see Brigantia Founder Iain Shaw and Chairman Martin Wright exit the business, with Brigantia MD Angus Shaw (pictured top) becoming MD for Elovade’s UK and Irish business.
The two businesses share a number of vendors including Keeper Security, Hornetsecurity and Octiga.
The deal is the latest M&A move in a UK and European cyber and software distribution space that saw QBS Software acquire Prianto in February and US outfit Climb buy Sigma, Spinnakar and DataSolutions in 2020, 2022 and 2023, respectively.
“Great strategic importance”
Expanding into the UK was “of great strategic importance” to Elevade, its CEO Phil Weber said in canned comments.
Brigantia’s “clear value-add focus on IT security and managed services” made it “the perfect counterpart to Elovade in the UK”, he added.

Brigantia will initially continue to run under its existing name, with Angus Shaw stressing that “nothing changes” when it comes to its offering to partners.
“The potential introduction of Elovade Cloud Services in the UK is a particularly exciting opportunity for partners in the future,” he added.
Founded in 1996 by Iain Shaw, Brigantia was best known as a buying group before fully morphing into a cyber distributor in 2016.
“This is brilliant for Brigantia,” Iain Shaw stated.
“While I will miss this chapter, I take great satisfaction and pride in leaving the business in such a strong position.”
