Focusing on “targeted, strategic” acquisitions represents a “new pillar” in Westcon-Comstor’s growth strategy, the distributor said as it snapped up a UK AWS consultancy.

Westcon-Comstor announced this morning that it has acquired London-based AWS advanced service partner and solution provider Rebura, in a move designed to bolster its channel services offering.

Specialising in AWS cloud migrations and modernisations, as well as SaaS and DevOps capabilities, Rebura holds seven competencies with AWS. In its most recent financial year, it had an average of 31 staff.

The distributor said it will offer Rebura consulting services through both its Westcon and Comstor arms.

“A powerful cloud offering for channel partners”

Combining its AWS migration services with Westcon-Comstor’s cybersecurity prowess “creates a powerful cloud offering for channel partners”, the distributor claimed.

“Migrating workloads to the cloud and maintaining security resilience are two of the biggest challenges faced by end-user businesses,” said David Grant, CEO at Westcon-Comstor (pictured top, left).

“This represents a significant opportunity for the channel, but many of our partners do not have the AWS migration and security skills needed to support their customers on this journey. Thanks to this exciting acquisition, our partners will now be able to access these capabilities through Rebura as part of a seamless and unique proposition.”

Despite AWS’ direct sales heritage, distributors are queuing up to build their relationship with the public cloud giant, with Pax8 recently telling us it is eager to roll its distribution relationship with AWS from North America to EMEA.

Westcon-Comstor ranked eighth in IT Channel Oxygen’s recent Must-Know UK IT Distributors after growing local revenues 8% to $580m (with its fiscal 2024 total set to hit $650m).

Part of South African IT group Datatec, Westcon-Comstor saw total revenues hike 18% to $3.42bn in its last financial year.

“Following a period of sustained organic growth, including double-digit revenue increases for the past two financial years, the deal represents a new pillar in Westcon-Comstor’s growth strategy to focus on targeted, strategic acquisitions,” the distributor stated.
