Former Exertis bigwig Phil Brown is to join rival TD Synnex as its VP Sales, UK & Ireland.

Having begun his career at TD Synnex UK predecessor Computer 2000 in 1998, Brown will take up his new board-level role at the broadliner on 1 September.

He is currently UK Commercial Director at SCC, a role he has been in for nearly three years.

The announcement comes following the recent departure of previous VP Sales UK&I Annette Cunningham.

Despite spending eight years at C2000 in his early career, Brown may be best associated with the decade he spent at rival Exertis between 2010 and 2021, latterly as its Commercial Director.

He has also served stints at TD Synnex vendor chums Samsung and Asus.

“I am excited and energised to be joining TD Synnex – a company I’ve admired for many years and one where I built the early years of my career,” Brown said in a canned statement.

The move comes just as TD Synnex prepares for a change in its global leadership, with COO Patrick Zammit also set to take the reins from Rich Hume on 1 September.

The baton change comes after the world’s largest distributor returned to top-line growth in its latest quarter.

Dave Watts, TD Synnex

Dave Watts, senior vice president and regional managing director, UK and Ireland, TD Synnex, said Brown brings “great experience, knowledge and integrity to our UK&I board and sales team”.

“Having worked right across the channel in key roles within vendor, distributor and partner companies, he has a broad understanding and deep experience of channel sales and product marketing that make him perfectly suited to this pivotal role,” he added.

Talking to IT Channel Oxygen, Cunningham said she “loved and valued” her three-and-a-half years at TD Synnex.

“They are a great company and I wish Phil all the best – he’s a good fit!,” she said.
