Don’t write off Google, Kress urges as he joins ‘hyper growth’ Datatonic

Former Advania CRO leaves to take same role at Google partner

It’s a “mistake” to write off Google as a serious cloud contender, industry veteran David Kress has asserted after leaving Microsoft partner Advania for Google-centric rival Datatonic.

Kress was this week unveiled as CRO of Datatonic, a UK-based AI consultancy that has been named Google Partner of the Year nine times.

He previously held the same role at highly decorated Microsoft partner Advania UK.

Billing itself as a leader in GenAI, Datatonic counts Vodafone and ASOS among its clients. It recently launched a new managed services capability under the Datatonic Run banner.

Talking to IT Channel Oxygen, former Cloudreach exec Kress said he is “excited” to be back in a Google ecosystem with a “hyper-growth” firm.

“Google is often written off as a serious contender for cloud, particularly in the UK. That’s a mistake,” he said.

“Their AI focused offerings are driving adoption at some of the largest enterprises across the globe. They are investing heavily into the UK, opening a EMEA Start Up HUB in London, and continuing to add important features, such as data residency for ML.

“Our growth across the UK, EMEA and the US continues to outpace the market, and Datatonic is poised to dominate in the AI services segment.”

Datatonic sees its ability to achieve “tangible value” with GenAI applications – including a claim that it cut invoice processing costs by 70% for Liberty Global – as a key differentiator.

“To achieve our mission, we need to attract the best of the best. David’s track record and vision for the future is just that,” Datatonic’s CEO Louis Decuypere said in a statement.

“I look forward to making even bigger strides as leaders in this market.”
