SoftwareOne and Crayon have announced a Country Leader for their combined UK business in the form of Ed Bell.

Bell joins the software licensing and cloud giant after a 16.5-year stint at Bytes Software Services, where he was latterly Divisional Director.

The move comes three months after SoftwareOne completed its acquisition of Crayon, in a move that created a 13,000-employee software licensing and cloud solutions monster.

Switzerland-based SoftwareOne had a larger UK business than its Nordic counterpart (with the duo’s latest accounts showing a headcount of 311 and 140 and a turnover of £59.3m and £15.7m, respectively).

The news comes after Omdia last week noted that Microsoft’s recent partner incentive shake up has removed “tens of millions of dollars” from EMEA partner profitability this year.

Seen by some some as a pivotal factor behind SoftwareOne and Crayon’s union, the incentive shift continues to leave its mark on the duo’s quarterly numbers.

“The reset I needed”

SoftwareOne and Crayon said Bell’s appointment show its commitment to “enhanced local decision-making capabilities” in the UK.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Ed as the new leader of our combined organisation in the UK,” stated Rico Andreoli, Regional President Western EMEA.

“With our talented local team and strong global partnerships with hyperscalers, we are able to offer unmatched solutions and services to meet the evolving needs of our clients.”

In a LinkedIn post last week, Bell said he took some time out over the summer to “reflect and spend quality time with family and friends”.

“It has been the reset I needed and I now feel ready and excited to get going with the next chapter in my career,” he wrote.
