6. Fulcrum IT Partners
Deals announced in 2023: 1 (Viadex – April)
Appetite for M&A
Fulcrum has acquired its way to becoming a significant UK player via three sizeable deals in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
The most recent of these came in April 2023 when it purchased Viadex, a Surbiton-based MSP focused on serving geo-dispersed midmarket businesses, with revenues of £52m.
It followed on from its acquisitions of Pure Technology Group (£42m revenues) and Prodec Networks (£21m revenues).
Globally, US-based Fulcrum claims it is on course for $1bn revenue by the end of 2023 following a string of deals on either side of the Atlantic.
Judging by the track record of Fulcrum founders Shane Maine and Gordon McMillan (who previously built and listed two North American tech providers in the form of Pivot and Converge), an IPO may be on the cards at some point.
What they said
“Viadex is a proven leader and will fast-track Fulcrum’s ability to build out the global foundations we are looking for to further simplify how global IT projects and services are deployed, consumed and ultimately managed,” – Viadex Chief Strategy Officer, Kelly Carter
Fun fact
Viadex CEO Dino Cooper claims to spend 80% of his time with clients advising on global projects and saving them money.
