Barracuda Networks has announced an abrupt CEO change, with former RSA CEO Rohit Ghai replacing Hatem Naguib.

Ghai stepped down as RSA CEO in September after almost eight years in the role, and before that held exec jobs at EMC, Symantec and CA Technologies.

He will now take command at Barracuda following the departure of Naguib after four years in the hotseat.

Cybersecurity outfit Barracuda swapped private equity backers in 2022 when KKR bought the business from Thoma Bravo for a reported $3.8bn. At the time, KKR indicated it had annual recurring revenues of over $500m.

Barracuda flagged up the launch of its BarracudaONE AI-powered cybersecurity platform as a key milestone of Naguib’s tenure.

In a press release, Ghai hailed Barracuda’s “relentless focus on partner and customer success”.

“I am grateful to the board for placing their trust in me and am excited about the opportunity to accelerate Barracuda’s business momentum,” he stated.

“Leading Barracuda through a period of extraordinary transformation has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” Naguib stated.

“As I pass the baton to Rohit, I do so with full confidence in his ability to lead Barracuda into its next era. His strategic vision, deep industry expertise and passion for cybersecurity make him the ideal leader to accelerate our momentum even further.”
