AHEAD has cut the ribbon on a UK production facility set to soon house 160-180 staff.

The $5.5bn-revenue, US-based-based channel partner trailed the opening of the Reading-based ‘Foundry’ in May as it announced a three-pronged European expansion drive.

It will act as the “operational cornerstone” of AHEAD’s UK and broader European presence, the AWS, Dell, ServiceNow, Microsoft, Cisco and VMware partner said.

The other two prongs were its acquisition of Netherlands-based Prolimax and the appointment of Paul Allen as Executive Vice President of Sales, EMEA.

AHEAD said the facility will serve as its new European production centre, delivering its industrialised platform for designing, integrating, configuring, testing, and deploying complex AI, high-performance computing and edge infrastructure for organisations across the UK and Europe.

Headcount there is expected hit a capacity 160-180 by 2027/28, AHEAD told us, adding that it currently sits at around a third of that.

Having acquired similar-sized peer CDI in 2024, the Berkshire Partners-backed cloud, data and security specialist – which notably counts boxxe CEO Phil Doye as a director and shareholder – generated gross revenues of $5.5bn in 2025.

That acquisition gave it a £26m-revenue UK operation (enough to rank it 189th in Oxygen 250 2026).

Talking to IT Channel Oxygen in June, Allen claimed AHEAD and its customers “do not necessarily consider [us] a VAR”.

“A better way of framing it is a robust, extremely high-growth professional services and managed services business partner,” he said at the time.

“European organisations no longer have to choose”

AHEAD’s press release on its new foundry was given the PR stamp of approval by Dell EMEA President Adrian McDonald, who characterised it as a “state of the art configuration facility”.

“This investment brings together the technology, expertise, and collaboration to help clients innovate with confidence and drive growth,” McDonald stated.

“Opening our doors today is about entering the EMEA market with proven capabilities already in place, not simply establishing a new location,” Allen added in a canned comment.

“Our Reading Foundry is fully operational from day one, enabling customers to locally build, integrate, validate, and deploy the complex AI infrastructure they need, while benefiting from the same industrialised delivery model, quality, speed, and consistency that AHEAD customers have come to expect.

“European organisations no longer have to choose between local execution and global consistency; AHEAD is delivering both.”
