Industry veteran Alex Tatham will be back on the nation’s airwaves and screens tomorrow to mark the 40th anniversary of Blind Date (updated – see video, bottom).

Having met on Blind Date in 1988 and married in 1991, the former Westcoast boss and wife Sue remain the ITV show’s most famous couple.

Talking to IT Channel Oxygen, Tatham confirmed that the duo are gearing up for a ‘BBC takeover’ tomorrow morning.

They are likely to be on Radio 5 at 7.20am or 7.45am and on Today between 8.30am and 9am, he revealed. He may even make an appearance on BBC Breakfast (updated – yes, he indeed did – see bottom).

“We seem to be busy tomorrow on the BBC, which will be lovely,” Tatham said.

After their wedding was attended by Cilla Black and televised, the Tathams went viral again in 2023 after ‘Meet Cutes NYC’ randomly stopped them in the street and asked them how they met.

The resulting footage has now amassed 700,000 likes on Instagram alone.

Tatham said he never gets tired of being wheeled out to relive his Blind Date story, stressing that it doesn’t happen that often.

“It’s a lovely story. Who wouldn’t want to talk about a love story that stretches 34 years and beyond?” said Tatham, who is now a non-exec at QBS Software and Ci Group.

“It’s a nice thing to remind the nation that it was a happy day for us both. It’s a still a happy moment, and it’s still embarrassing our children.”
