Westcoast Director Alex Tatham and his wife Sue are set to make an appearance on the Good Morning Britain sofas next week after going viral on social media (see update: bottom)
The couple were flagged down and asked about how they met by ‘Meet Cutes NYC’, whose brief is to “document and share heart-warming love stories from the streets of New York”.
The Tathams made history in 1991 for featuring in the first ‘Blind Date wedding’, having met as contestants on the show in 1988.
The resulting footage – which was filmed when the Meet Cutes NYC team were in London – blew up on social media this week.
“You can look us up on YouTube – 17.5 million people watched our wedding,” Tatham told the disembodied interviewer.
“It was totally random,” Tatham added, in comments to IT Channel Oxygen.
“These guys are from NYC and just stopped us and said ‘excuse me, are you a couple? Can I ask you how you met!’ So we told them. My TikTok knowledge was zero. I am now an expert on make-up tips.”
At the time of writing, the clip had been viewed 2.7 million times on TikTok and had amassed 112,000 likes on Instagram.
“It has gone slightly mad on TikTok and Instagram. So much so that we are on GMB on Monday morning. Just before 8am,” Tatham revealed.
Tune in at around 7.50am for the live interview with Sue and Alex.
Update:
Alex and Sue were interviewed by Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley this morning. See a small clip below.
