Omdia Chief Analyst Jay McBain namechecked Snowflake’s $1bn status as far back as April, with NYSE Live implying the same thing in September.
When asked how AWS Marketplace is minting “$1bn software sellers like Salesforce and Snowflake”, AWS’ MD of Technology Partnerships, Chris Grusz, characterised marketplaces as “the new way for people to acquire technology”.
“It brings all the sellers together so buyers can see everything in one place,” he said.
“The thing that we really focused on with marketplace is having a deeper integration experience with the rest of AWS, so that when you go and buy the products that you mentioned it’s a better experience, and easier to get up and running.”
On its recent Q3 earnings call, Snowflake CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy revealed that the vendor had booked “over $3.9bn” through its collaboration with AWS over the past four quarters.
“We have a great relationship with AWS, but also with Azure. I would say, we have some, let’s call it… shoots of grass on our relations with GCP in terms of what is possible there. We are working with that to make it happen,” he added.
