SBTi status: Committed in 2022
The world’s second largest IT solutions provider committed to SBTi last year.
More specifically, the privately held company has slated achieving a net zero SBTi target by 2050, and near-term SBTi target in 2030, which it said aligns it with partners including Cisco, HPE and Dell. As stated in its 2022-23 ESG report, the $17bn-revenue firm is currently developing an energy efficiency plan to cut its scope 1 and 2 emissions, and is “engaging with stakeholders including its top suppliers” to aid its scope 3 reductions.
WWT has added a new location in New York that is powered 100% by renewable energy, the firm told us, adding that it is also working with its energy provider in Missouri to power its local facilities by renewable energy, starting in 2025. This is the first year WWT has created a robust GHG inventory including a complete Scope 3 profile, and is also the first time it has had the inventory audited by an external assurance provider, it stressed.
Estimated 2022 Co2e footprint: Scope 1: 655 metric tonnes, Scope 2: 18,523 metric tonnes, Scope 3: 28.18 million metric tonnes (Total: 28.2m metric tonnes)
